POLITICS & CINEMA IN BIGGEST STAR STUDDED BIOPIC
The rise of NTR in Andhra Pradesh that followed the rise of MGR in Tamilnadu marked the rise of cinema stars who invaded politics and changed the course of India's political history. It is but befitting that these superstars of politics also find their rightful places in the current political discourse via media of cinema. In this era of imaginative biopics, now is also the time for retelling the stories of these heroes of the past who jumped out of the screen, landed upon the political centre stage and seized the imagination of the people.
But naturally, when one is filming the biography of the cinema star, due credit must also be given to other stars in the firmament during their times and this can only be achieved if a movie about N.T. Rama Rao is cast with current superstars and celebrities.
So, two choices were prime for Krish when he started casting for the NTR biopic. One, only an actress of the stature of Vidya Balan could play NTR's wife Basavatarakam, particularly if NTR is to be played by none other than NTR's son Nandamuri Balakrishna. Rana Daggubati is chosen to essay the role of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Jisshu Sengupta is L V Prasad, the filmmaker who was NTR's mentor. Krish's next job is about Sridevi.
Apart from the NTR-J. Jayalalitha pair, NTR, and Sridevi were one of the most popular pairs of those times with as many as 14 hits including BOBBILI PULI and JUSTICE CHOUDHARY. Rakul Preet Singh's name is high on the list to play Sridevi in NTR biopic. Next, who will play J. Jayalalitha? Is Kangana Ranaut a good choice? she is only a few kilos underweight.
